Loreto College, Kolkata was established in 1912. It is a women’s college affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It was the first college in West Bengal to be assessed by NAAC. It was awarded the highest rating of five stars in 2000. Loreto College was Re-accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) in December 2006 and was awarded an A grade. The College had the 3rd Cycle of Re-accreditation by NAAC in September 2012 and was awarded an A grade. The college was recognized by the N.C.T.E. (National Council of Teacher Education) and was awarded the B++ grade by NAAC in 2003. The UGC (University Grants Commission) recognized Loreto College as a College with Potential for Excellence in 2006 and again in 2011.

Medical Facilities: 

Loreto College campus has a nurse on duty in the infirmary. On all working days, the nurse is available during college hours. It also has a doctor-on-call facility in a medical emergency.

Counseling: 

Personal Counselling is a required course in the College curriculum. Students and faculty have access to two designated counselors who meet with them regularly. Loreto College also provides career counseling. Students are exposed to various professional opportunities, both academic and non-academic. Students are prepared for interviews and group discussions through lectures and short-term courses. Academic counseling is available to students in their departments.

Library: 

The Loreto College library has 51225 books, periodicals, and documents in the collection, spanning a wide range of topics. The collection is primarily in English, with some Bengali and Hindi periodicals and rare religious and philosophical writings in French, German, Irish, and other European languages. It is available to the public from 8 am to 5 pm, six days a week. In addition, the Loreto College library provides various services, including a book bank, photocopying, internet, etc. In addition, the library has 70 periodicals (Indian and foreign), 6 newspapers, a CD-ROM collection, e-books, and e-journals as available through NLIST and EBSCO host.

Computer Lab: 

The computer lab has a scanner, printer, and free high-speed internet to aid the teaching-learning process. The computer lab has been updated with the latest Core i3/Core i7 PCs to improve the teaching and learning process.

The Loreto College Kolkata placement and career development cell is responsible for all the recruitment-related activities of the college.
